Smart Start Payne County began in 2001 as a Success By 6 initiative of the Stillwater Area United Way.  In 2004, we became a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.   We changed our name to Smart Start Payne County in 2006.   We are a member agency of the Stillwater Area United Way and part of Smart Start Oklahoma's community network.  In July 2008, we started expansion efforts to a larger geographical area that includes Lincoln, Noble and Pawnee counties. As of Spring 2009, we have changed our trade name to reflect this expansion.  While you may still hear us referred to as Smart Start Payne County, we are now officially known as Smart Start North Central Oklahoma.
